A vacation like back then

Weather-beaten alpine huts full of romance, walks and ski tours in deserted winter fairytale landscapes where the only evidence of other life were animal tracks in the snow ...

Where can you still find this winter freshness?
Where does the church still stand in the middle of the village?
Where can you find genuine, warm, unaffected hospitality?
Where can you find all the charm, the flair, the nostalgia, the romance -
in short, the winter idyll you have been dreaming of for so long?

In Gargellen - a mountain idyll with Art Nouveau flair

... Gargellen lies in the farthest "corner" of the Montafon: just where the fox and the hare say good night. And this is precisely Gargellen's strength: its location at the end of the sunny high valley spares the high-altitude climatic health resort from through traffic and tourist hustle and bustle.

... Everything is there in Gargellen - just a little smaller, a little quieter, a little more idyllic than "out there" in the turbulent world of mass winter sports.

... the village has grown slowly, has been able to retain its originality and the locals and hosts place great value on tradition, charm, originality and individuality. The first guests seeking relaxation came to Gargellen around 1880, when it became fashionable to go to the mountains for a summer retreat. Winter tourists soon followed.

... Here, people are really proud of being small, the good old values and norms still apply. It is typical that only locals have their say in the guest journal, the "Gargellen Post", which is published twice a year.

... Gargellen's most prominent resident is Mathias Berthold, former member of the Austrian national ski team and now coach of the German women's ski team.
